Richard is a video producer and editor with an emphasis on documentary, news journalism, educational and community-based video media. His twelve years of video production experience began in corporate educational video. Since 2002 his work has focused on human rights and social justice themes; video messages on clinical health care, HIV and substance use prevention; news journalism and video promotions for organizations. He has worked on projects throughout North America, Portugal, Romania, Brazil, Peru and Australia, conducting interviews in Spanish, Portuguese and German.

Richard is especially strong with community-based and targeted projects involving multiple players, vulnerable populations or subjects requiring a sensitive approach. He has developed projects from conception to completion including research, budgeting, script writing, casting, shooting, directing and editing. He has completed projects for the Commercial Closet Association, Consumers United for Evidence-based Healthcare, the Cochrane Consumer Network, In The Life, Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Center and the University of California Los Angeles.

Health related messages he has produced include: Acute HIV Infection Syndrome, Getting Clear About Crystal Meth, HIV and Immigration in New York City, In the Pipeline: What You Need to Know About Rectal Microbicides, Post Exposure Prophylaxis, Smoke Free New York Works, and Take the Pledge to Make Your Home Smoke Free, among others. He was most recently Director of Center Media at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center overseeing production of a monthly TV show and video podcast, Out at the Center. In his five years at the Center the show expanded from a cable-access broadcast in Manhattan to also air in Brooklyn and Queens as well as online on iTunes, YouTube, Facebook, MySpace, several other online channels and the Center’s website. Nearly 180 distinct video clips received on average 800-1,000 views per day. Over 135 volunteers were trained in basic video and editing to produce the segments with several moving on to jobs in the industry.
